Matt Killen
Matt Killen is an experienced instrumental music teacher, offering private lessons for students of all ages and skill levels. Mr. Killen received his Bachelor’s in Music Education from Mississippi State University and previously taught in the Vicksburg Warren School District as a band director for five years. He focuses on building strong technique, confidence, a love for music. Lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, whether it’s learning for fun, improving skills, or preparing for auditions.
While a band director, Mr. Killen taught woodwind, brass, and percussion students ranging from 6th through 12th grade in concert, marching, and jazz band settings. He consistently earned high ratings from judges with his groups, as well as had several of his middle school and high school students earn placements in the East Central Mississippi Band Directors Association honor bands and the Mississippi Bandmasters Association Clinic honor bands.
Outside of teaching, Mr. Killen has participated in the Vicksburg Orchestral Society and the Mississippi Wind Symphony.
